Silkworm is a classic side-scrolling shooter, developed by Tecmo and first released for the arcade in 1988. In 1989 it was ported to the Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and NES (1990 ) Systems for the sales curve and released by Virgin Mastertronic.
Silkworm also resulted in what many regard as a spiritual successor to the game – SWIV . SWIV While it was not a direct sequel, the same base design of a computer game helicopter/jeep continued, even as a shooter vertical scrolling instead of horizontal scrolling one . SWIV was described in the game manual to mean both “Special Weapons Intercept Vehicle” and “silkworm IV”.
Silkworm belongs to the games “have no end”: after a certain level, the game continues infinitely. Although many other games of this type, however, after a certain level that tells the player that he will not accept more coins to continue the current program.
Computer Conversions of this game, however, offer the player a final warning screen after beating a certain level, ending the game.
Silkworm had interesting graphics and relatively fast game. The player can take control of a Jeep mounted with a machine gun or a helicopter with guns mounted forward and down. Two players can work simultaneously and cooperatively against enemies, with a game like Jeep and one helicopter.
In single player mode, it is usually easier to play with the helicopter with the Jeep , but it can be more fun than playing as the Jeep. As the Jeep, the player has to destroy everything right in front of her or be prepared to jump to avoid collisions. In two player mode, the helicopter and the Jeep should cooperate, and players rely on each other to succeed. For example, the helicopter can only shoot forward, so occasionally, the Jeep should cover the back with his gun spinning. However, to cover the rear, the Jeep is vulnerable from the front, so that the helicopter has to cover him.
Silkworm included a fairly wide variety of enemies, some of whom had specific weaknesses , such as armored anti-aircraft guns that could only be harmed when their shields down the fire. Most famously, the helicopter was “Goose”-a giant, heavily armored helicopter “mini-boss” which is composed of several smaller vehicles connected together.
Players collect shields (which alternatively could be triggered by the player in order to destroy all enemies on the screen), power cells that increase firepower and a bonus can be added to the score. The game becomes more difficult at the end of each level. The game uses some destructible environmental elements, such as buildings and ancient ruins.
Speed was one of the pieces that define the game mode, the programmers who worked on conversions of houses were eager to preserve, using a variety of programming techniques. An item that requires the work was the control system (the original arcade had three buttons, while most home systems had only one) , but this was resolved without a problem.
Silkworm came a background theme music composed by Barry Leitch, who became a minor cult success of old, be included in a cassette user covermounted Sinclair, along with classics like Shinobi and Continental Circus.
How to Start and Play Game?
After Downloading the .zip file, extract it. Now open the folder “silkworm” and then double click on Mama32plus. Now double click on Silk worm just below the “Description”. After running, you need to set control option and starting. Follow the instruction to control setting and play.
Press “Tab” key from keyboard and then select “Input this game”. Now set all your buttons P1 and P2. Example: to set button A, go to P1 Button 1 and press Enter. Now press “A” key from keyboard. Your button 1 for the game will work by pressing A key from keyboard. Similarly set all P1 and P2 buttons. Please keep the same button for both P1 and P2.
In this game, you can play with helicopter and jeep. If you want to play with helicopter then press “5″ button and then “1″. To play with jeep, you have to press “6″ button and then press “2″. Now you can enjoy the game.
